Even better! Wish I could have been there. Best to Roddy and Dave. They must have used up all of Jon's tailwinds. Sent from my Verizon Wireless 4G LTE DROID Bruce Crain <jcrain2@...> wrote: Jay, Sorry I didn’t sign the prior post- it was my birthday. It was a great one!! Thanks! Honey Lamb

I hope they didn't use it all. I'm planning to use some of it this morning! Paul

Made good headway on the electronic ignition last night but don't think I will have time to fully test for a "cross country" flight in time. Bummer. Corbin

Just took off, got 5 miles and low voltage. Suspect alternator. Returned to OGD

I actually have access to a 182 and a Cherokee Six I could fly up. But sounds like Saturday might be getting filled up with finishing up the ignition with my avionics guy and then some family stuff. But there is at least a chance I could get up there easily if a window opens up.

Let us know. I’ve heard you name mentioned a few times. You’ve got a few Qbees curious.

Unable to complete first leg to FOD 2020 :-( Looked in the logs. The alternator is a 50 amp InterAv installed in late 70’s, to upgrade from 36 amp generator. My A&P said he could easily rack up $2K in trouble shooting and fixing the existing system. I ordered a B&C 40 Amp kit for my engine and Bob and I will install it. The A&P will inspect and sign off. I hope this does not take another month. B&C is swamped with orders it could be a week before they ship. And on other week to get it and install it. As soon as it is airworthy again I will look for good weather to fly home to E95. Bob will pick me up in Benson and take me to Ogden to get my truck and cargo trailer a.k.a. Stealth Camper. Sorry I missed it, Charlie

Sorry to hear that Charlie. Last year, my alternator failed and it only cost $75 to have it rebuilt within about 45 minutes. The two magnets had broken apart inside.

Next time I have the engine off I’m going with the B&C alt you chose. Frustrating for you, I’m sure. Corbin

Yes frustrating but fortunate rather the beginning than the middle for a failure. I had not even looked at the electrical mess. Piper put a generator on it. Someone took a “70’s car 🚗 alternator with a bunch of parts added and an over voltage box and got a STC to replace failing generators. Started InterAv Company. That replaced the generator late 70’s on my airplane. So 40 year old stuff now failed. The B&C kit has less components and uses modern technology to do the job better. It is also 6 lbs lighter off the nose. My hope is to get the Dragonfly in the air for next years event, the Tri-Pacer has been a necessary distraction this summer. More hanger talk! 67 F and 82% in Enid. Raining in Ogden. Charlie
