Looking for an O-200 ... Referrals Much APPRECIATED
As some of you might have seen I am looking at a Q2 rescue and am in need of an O-200. Any referrals are appreciated, or links, or yours ;-)
I won't need any of the mags, the carb or the generator, so those can be sold separate as they worth good money for an O-200. I saw one on Facebook marketplace I believe it was an 0-200 group feed. That's all the info I have though On Sat., Apr. 16, 2022, 3:37 p.m. Robert Schmid, <robert@...> wrote: As some of you might have seen I am looking at a Q2 rescue and am in need of an O-200. You should check first if the plane was built for a Revmaster or 0-200. Perhaps you are already familiar with the differences, but swapping an 0-200 into a Revmaster built plane is not trivial and could involve a lot of fiberglass rework. Troy Z

Troy Z briefly what are the differences?

I asked the same question a while back. Don’t remember the list but should be able to search for it.

The plane has an AeroVee engine on it that needs to come off but the plane was never finished so it needs a lot of work no matter. Does that answer your question?

Robert, I have a Q200 for sale. It has about 600 hours on the airframe, and a low-time Jabiru 3300 120HP Gen 3 engine. I bought it last year, and found I cannot get hull insurance because I am 92 years old;’ so it is for sale for what I paid fr it: $30,500.

It is in my hangar at KLMO, Longmont, CO, just north of Boulder. I have not flown it since it was delivered from near Tucson, … and is in my hangar 28E, if you woud like to see it. Terrence O’Neill

Thanks Terrence, I saw your plane on Barnstormer. I am looking to create a modern version with glass cockpit etc so I'll keep looking but I appreciate the outreach.

The main difference is the fuel system, header tank, engine mount, cowling/air inlet, and firewall “magneto cutout.” But it depends on what you will have mounted to the back of the engine. I think ive seen some 0-200s that dont have any accessories that would protrude into the firewall area like the original carb, mag engine did.

Are you considering any of the alternatives? You need to convert much of the firewall forward anyway and you might consider a modern approach to power. I know the airframe in question and measured and poked around, looked at C of G and interviewed some of the new engine builders and have my own ideas on the subject. But now it's finely time for us to consider some newer tech. in my humble opinion and save some dough in the short and long term. I have 2 airplanes projects and 2 boat projects and plenty of stuff the Mrs. wants done, If I didn't I'd already own that little bird. Stan

Yes happy to consider something modern. Ping me at 408-805-5450.

Yes I would be going with an EFI system which reduces much of the back engine stuff, not totally away but much less. Engine mount would change anyhow because it currently carries an AeroVee. And fuel system would be different too no matter because of EFI. So yes changes, but what this showed me is that I'll need to make a list of all the fiberglass work I have to do.
The other fiberglass work I would do is a turtle deck behind me and I'd wonder about the battery which would be a much lighter one given EarthX though that might not make sense if it is there to balance CG. Lots more research and listening to do ;-) ...
