Step
Has anyone built a step on the fuselage to help get in a Q2/200? I'm certainly not as limber as I was in my younger years and getting the leg up and swung around to get in is becoming a sight to see.

Buy a plastic step at the hardware store. Works fine.

Jim, I meant to say into the fuselage. I'll go back and edit.

Funny you should bring that up My shorty is going to need one to get in the airplane ( I cant see her getting in otherwise) and I was just thinking about that. I think a collapsible marine ladder for the back of a boat might work But then, I'm thinking I might build a simple collapsible step stool

The Long-Ez and Vari-ez drivers built one from aluminum, bolted to the outside of the fuselage, using the same bolts holes as the seat belt but longer bolts. I'll see if I can find a drawing.

My hangar mate uses this with string attached to lift it into the airplane. Does not weigh much and folds up pretty small/thin.

No. But I have seen a fellow in a Long-EZ use a light weight step stool (block) on a lanyard that he could step up onto and when once boarded, he would pull the block up into the cockpit.

... with string attached to lift it into the airplane. That's...genius. Just the type of reason I hang out here, so I stop adding months/years overcomplicating things 🤦♂️ -- -MD #2827 (still thinking about planning on visualizing how to finish building)
