That's white corn being loaded which will be used in in anything that's white and goes crunch. Tortilla chips, tacos, etc... Some of this corn will go to a barge on the Ohio River and eventually to overseas markets.  An exciting and busy time of year. Sorry Paul, the cousin uses CaseIH equipment. If it were me it'd be Deere indeed. Keith  Â

Mike,
We have a local guy who has a rather large bee farm. His bees feed on clover and produces some of the best honey money can buy. My wife swears by it.
Honey is allot cheaper at Walmart though.Â
This cousin farms 5500 acres and another cousin around 6000. And no, Bill hasn't invested in this area....yet.
I forgot to mention that much of this corn will be milled into ethanol which is where I've been hauling lately.
Â
He also raises mostly nonGMO soybeans which will go to a local elevator, loaded into containers, railed to LA and onto ships bound for Japanese markets.
They'll get there sometime this winter.
Interesting world we live in. ---------- Original Message ---------- From: "Mike Bergen" <dmbergen@...> To: <main@Q-List.groups.io> Subject: Re: [Q-List] Hello from the Midwest Date: Sun, 02 Oct 2022 08:35:52 -0400 Way cool Keith, thanks for sharing and giving us all a reminder of the small farmer’s contribution to the economy. Has Bill Gates tried to buy you out yet? 😉  The best that I have done in regards is nurture a small colony of honey bees at the airport alongside the old grass runway that is no longer in use. Simple syrup mix on top to get them ready for the winter. We were able to extract around 140 pounds of honey last week that will go to market and personal consumption.  Mike From: <main@Q-List.groups.io> on behalf of Keith Welsh <kw544@...>  A little...lot...off subject but thought y'all like to see where some of yur food comes from.
