Rudder cables?
Thanks Chris, I have installed the bellcrank and therefore will have them connected on that with 4 wires coming out the back. I do like the anti shimmy spring though, smart one!

Robert----------- I just finished and got to fly the airplane last year, so I only have 40 hrs on it so far, but, I do have a Dragonfly with 800 hrs on it and it has the same set up. My entire vertical stab and rudder is from the Dragonfly plans with the mass balance. Here's a picture of the other side. take care-------------- Chris

Yes.. one step further is full torque tubes. I can visualize your build, the fuselage joint is an improvement. How long has your aircraft been flying with this
design, Chris? I'd be willing to bet on Conditionals you see little to zero wear or issues.

So plan calls for 3/23 7x19 wires, doesn't state if stainless or galvinized but since I get a good deal on marine products I went with stainless.
Now I need to figure out how to swage the ends on that aren't wrap around a thimbal and attached with cable shackles per plan. The shackles cost 13 bucks a piece and aren't adjustable. Given I have 12-16 attachments (6 extra with bellcrank) that adds up quickly. I am looking into marine connections, at least one on each line to adjust more easily. Just thought I share my thinking, Robert -- Robert "TheFrisco" Schmid (408) 805-5450 www.facebook.com/TheFlyingFriscos www.theflyingfriscos.com Love building planes almost as much as flying. Mine are galvanised also. Rich T. On 04/02/2023 22:05, Tim wrote:

You’ll need special crimpers and hardware for stainless, probably not worth it.

Just thin about the attributes of Galvanized cable. Why, do we suppose, it is so popular? Price? Sure. Durability? Sure. I think the “self healing” properties of the zinc is a plus.

The plans show 3/32" cable

At least that is based on what we do here with glider/sailplane rudder cable, but they have tight ‘S’ curve fittings at the pedals, so might not apply to. A Q setup. So tend to use galvanised. The plans say which wire (size), I think it is referenced on the rudder disconnect snippet. |

And I assume 7x19 wire?

Since my plane sat outsidevp before I rescued it, I am replacing the control cables. What type do I get? Stainless?
