Elevator trim wheel

How have you attached the elevator trim wheel spring to CSA8?
I'm thinking of drilling 2 holes in CSA8 and either just feeding the spring tang through them or installing a shackle for each spring
Plans call for a thimble for each and then tied with the rope but that seems like a lot of pieces and finicky work

Any thoughts?

I would tell you how I built mine, but I am afraid that David Gall will chime in with some comic relief (every comedian needs a straight man like me). Suffice it to say, you probably don’t want to do the elevator trim mechanism my way….that said, I am very happy with the results. 😉

Hi Mike,

I took a AN3 penny washer and put two small holes in the outside to thread the springs into. Then install between CSA8 spaced with brass or aluminium tube in place of the plans calling for wooden dowel. But I ain’t flown it yet. Seems to work in the hangar…
